Poronuma Lake

Poronuma Lake is the largest lakes in Sarufutsu area, and connected to Sarufutsu River at the bank. In April-May and September-October, Poronuma Lake is a stopover site for many ducks and Tundra Swans, but there are no view points where you can see all over the lake, Parking is only loated in embankment beside the bridge of Sarufutsu River bank. In migration season, you can watch Tundra Swan, Whooper Swan, Common Goldeneye, Greater Scaup, Northern Pintail, Tufted Duck and Red breasted Merganser. From April to October, there are Great Cormorant, Grey Heron, Great White Egret on the shore, and Passerine such as Black-browed reed-warbler, Siberian Stonechat, Reed Bunting, and Middendorff’s grasshopper Warbler at the riverside reed grassland.
