The boardwalk at the Sarobetsu Wetland Center is the only site where you can watch Yellow breasted Bunting in Japan. Here is the only site where Yellow breasted Bunting can be observed within Sarbetsu area. So when you watch Yellow Breasted Bunting, you must not disturb them and avoid observing them for a long time and going after, in addition to basic birdwatching manner. In May, you can watch Grassland birds such as Siberian Rubythroat, Reed Bunting and Chestnut-eared Bunting. Latham’s snipe often do display-flights in the sky, and Northern Wryneck sometimes calls in the woodland. In May, Lanceolated Warbler andGray’s grasshopper warbler sing in woodland. White-tailed Eagles and Eastern Marsh Harrier sometimes pass through the sky. April-May and September-October is the migratory season for Ducks and Geese. You can watch Greater White-fronted Goose and Bean Goose on pasture lands around the Wetland Center, and Ducks in flooded pasture lands and rivers. In winter when snow is enough to walk, you can watch Paridae birds in the forest around the boardwalk by using snowshoes, which can be rent in the Wetland Center.
