Himenuma Lake

The forest around Himenuma Lake is close to mountain area, and is connected to the oldest and deepest forest of the Island. From spring to summer, Black Woodpeckers nest around the lake so that you can watch they fly over the forest, and if you lucky you can watch they are perching. The circuit trail around the lake takes 20 minute walk. Main attraction here is Little Grebe and Mandatory Duck families floating on the lake together in summer. If you are lucky, you can watch a Mandarin duck family walking in a line. Black-tailed Gulls sometimes visit to bath and drink fresh water. In summer, Japanese Robins are abundant in forest and sometimes are singing on the boardwalk and fallen trees beside it. For Himenuma Lake is close to forest, Japanese Bush Warblers and Gray’s grasshopper Warblers are singing in the Ssasa bush beside of the boardwalk.
